A Slightly Urgent Warning...
Hi all,
Just a quick note to say that one of our valued Story Club members received messages from someone purporting to be (wait for it) my mother. These messages were not from my mother. Apparently “my mother” offered to have me call the SC member on her birthday - for a price, it seems.
My mother is a total sweetheart, and/but is not on Story Club or Substack.
So: if you ever get a message like that - or if you get a message from me that doesn’t come from my StoryClub gmail account - suspect fraud of some kind. I’ve had to alert Substack more than once (and have alerted them re. this one as well). And I will never ask you to send money or anything like that, apart from your subscription fees, and I will never offer writing or career advice or read your work for a fee.
And neither will my mom.
All the best,
George
PS And if you do get approached, please write to me asap, or post about it in the Comments, so I can put a stop to it.

Ok then, so now I'm left wondering exactly who jumped out of my giant birthday cake last week???
This is one of the funniest stories i've read on Substack! Send my best wishes to your mom and remind her that she still ows me money!
