"Boule de Suif"

First Discussion.

So, this week we’re working on “Boule de Suif,” by Guy de Maupassant.  For simplicity, I’ll be referring to this version, from 1922, translated by McMaster, Henderson, Quesada et al.  It doesn’t have page numbers but in my printout it’s thirty-five pages; page 2 starts with “Then a profound calm…” and ends with “why one should provoke the hostility,” just to give you an idea of the page-length.  I’ve gone through and numbered my pages for ease of reference and it might be helpful for you to do the same.
