A couple of things to share with you this week…

I thought I’d take another run at “The Legend of Lough Gur,” as a sort of specimen model of the way a short story works. Next week we’ll get started on something new.

But first, let me say that in these notes to you here, I’m never proposing rules or laws or even knowledge – I’m just coming up with different ways of thinking about stories, ways which co-exist, and may sometimes seem irreconcilable with one another, and the point of this is really something like…an offering. The hope is that something I say will spur you on to progress, break up some logjam, activate something that’s already been simmering in your mind.
