Thank you all for your insightful comments and special thanks to Peter for directing us to “The Prevention of Literature” by George Orwell, which I’d never read before and is full of power and relevance.

And thanks to our beloved Mary G. for finding this gem – letters exchanged between two of our greatest short story writers, Katherine Anne Porter and Flannery O’Connor. (And it only now occurs to me that we’ve never done an O’Connor story here yet. Insert sounds of my brain-gears turning as I rub by palms together in greedy anticipation.)
