In Which I Praise You All

Hi Everyone,

Over the past week I’ve been going through the hundreds of response emails to my post of last Sunday, on Gaza, and I want to you thank you all. Here’s what’s been amazing about this: every single one of the letters, even the ones from folks who vehemently disagreed with me, were civil, kind, articulate, and generous.  I’m not kidding: there was not one scrap of vitriol or incivility in the lot.  Those who disagreed with me provided valuable references and moving personal stories, and I have learned so much from this whole process (although it has also made me a nervous, anxious wreck, or I guess you could say, even more of one.)

I want to thank you all, from the heart, for your generosity, your good faith.  If I offended anyone, or overlooked any viewpoint, I sincerely apologize.  This process has renewed my faith in our ability to talk about these critical things – not just here at Story Club, but in general.
