Off to London

And a story of mine for us to think about.

Awhile back, I offered my story “CommComm” and tried to talk about it as honestly as I could from a creative standpoint. I thought, since I’m still on the move (and have a busy week ahead, in London, Bristol, and Edinburgh), we might try this again with another story of mine.

So here’s “CivilWarLand in Bad Decline,” from the book of the same name, my first book, which was published by Random House in 1996. I’ll try, as best I can, to remember how it was written and what I was trying to do at the time - although it was, admittedly, a long time ago.

It’s a strange, dark story, and writing it was one of the most exciting creative experiences of my life.
