The Overcoat

Beginning by questioning.

First, let me wish you all a Happy Mother’s Day. Sending out much love to all of you who are mothers and also to all of you (of us) who manage, even for a few seconds a day, to be maternal in the best sense, i.e., loving, patient, present, generous.

In a spirit of continual exploration, I’d like to approach our first session on Gogol’s “The Overcoat” slightly differently than we’ve done in the past, in a way that mimics how I’d approach a new story in a “real” class.
