I thought it would be fun to explore this masterpiece by James Baldwin, “The Rockpile,” from his landmark 1965 collection, “Going to Meet the Man.” (With apologies for the wavy lines in the text - this is, as you can see, a very homemade enterprise over here, tech-wise: me, at my writing desk, holding the book open with one hand while taking the pdf with my phone in the other.)
